Houston Area Universities Say They Are Prepared for Financial Aid Delays Amid FAFSA Complications

"Students are struggling with the new Free Application for Student Aid that rolled out in late December, which could lead to a drop in college enrollment," Houston Public Media reports.

..."There are at least three technical issues the U.S. Office of Federal Student Aid has identified. They mostly involve mismatched tax information from what a student might submit and what the office receives on the application.

According to a press release from the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators, 'two of the three issues may occur for students and their contributors who successfully had federal tax information (FTI) transferred via the IRS Direct Data Exchange (DDX).' The IRS Direct Data Exchange is used to directly send tax information from the IRS to the FAFSA application."
