NASFAA understands that unexpected circumstances may occasionally prevent candidates from completing their credential test within the 40-day testing window.

Candidates who are unable to complete their credential test within the available timeframe may request an extension by contacting the NASFAA Credentialing Team. Extension requests are reviewed individually based on the circumstances provided and are not automatically granted.

When possible, candidates are strongly encouraged to contact the NASFAA Credentialing Team before their testing window expires to discuss their situation and explore available options.

Requesting an Extension

To request a credential test extension, please email the NASFAA Credentialing Team and provide the following information:

• A brief explanation of the circumstances that prevented you from completing your test within the original testing window.
• Any supporting documentation available, if applicable.
• The amount of additional time you are requesting to complete your test.

The NASFAA Credentialing Team will review your request and respond within three business days. Additional information may be requested as needed to determine the appropriate next steps.

Extension Decisions

Extension requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Approval is not guaranteed and will depend on the circumstances presented, the timing of the request, and other relevant factors.

If an extension is approved, NASFAA will provide updated testing access information and the applicable timeframe for completing your assessment.
