A Message from 2021-22 National Chair Brent Tener

Brent TenerFriends,

It is my honor to serve as NASFAA Chair for the 2021-2022 year. The NASFAA Board of Directors is ready to build upon the great successes over the past years.

As we look forward to the challenges before us, we transition from an experience with a pandemic that none of us could imagined. The experience has forever changed all of us in ways that we can only begin to understand. We have been challenged both personally and professionally. We have been pushed to any number of extremes physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

While there are many unknowns as we move into this post-pandemic world, there are a few things that are certain. First of all, your work in making a post-secondary education possible for students is more important than it ever has been. Education is still a common thread that makes our society a better and more inclusive place. Education is still the best driver of economic mobility in our country. Our profession is an important gatekeeper in making education a reality.

Second, due to the remarkable leadership of Justin Draeger, the NASFAA staff, Brenda Hicks and Paula Luff (the most recent past NASFAA Chairs) and the past NASFAA Boards of Directors, your national organization has weathered the pandemic very well and is poised to continue its vital mission in supporting the work that you do and advocating on behalf of the students we all serve.

I look forward to this next year and the opportunities and challenges that it holds. As always, feel free to reach out to me, any of the NASFAA Board members or NASFAA staff if we can be of assistance.

May all of you be richly blessed, and you and your families stay safe and healthy.
