President Joe Biden on Monday announced that the White House will end the ongoing national emergency declarations tied to the coronavirus pandemic on May 11. The administration has used the authority granted by the emergency powers as justification for a number of higher education initiatives — including its student debt cancellation program — and other regulatory flexibilities related to federal student aid programs.

Congressional Democrats have unveiled new legislation seeking to ease student loan borrowers' transition into resuming repayments on their student loans, which is now expected to resume no later than June 30, 2023.

Students who graduated from high school in 2022 left about $3.6 billion in Pell Grants unclaimed by not completing the FAFSA, a new report from the National College Attainment Network (NCAN) found.

It's that time again — Financial Aid Awareness Month has arrived! This year, we want to know how you, our members, are spreading awareness. Need some ideas? Utilize social media to spread the word, lead a Q&A session for prospective college students, or host a virtual meet-and-greet for students to interact with your office. Be sure to keep NASFAA in the loop by sharing about your Financial Aid Awareness Month efforts and events on social media using the hashtag #FinAidFeb, and by posting photos on our Facebook page. Plus, share your outreach efforts using our raffle submission form no later than 5:00 p.m. ET on Monday, February 27. We'll choose three financial aid offices at random to win pizza for their office.
