In this monthly round-up in Today's News, we would like to highlight what’s going on in your state and regional associations. This AskRegs Knowledgebase Q&A was updated on October 4, 2023 to include clarification on whose support is used when making parent of record determinations. It was updated on September 25, 2023 to include clarification on how child support figures into those determinations. Effective with the 2024-25 award year, the parent of record (primary parent) on the FAFSA is noted below. You will notice that the parent with whom the student lived the most in the past 12 months prior to filing the FAFSA is no longer a criterion for divorced or separated parents. As many aid offices gear up to hire and fill vacant positions, we understand there is a need to view multiple perspectives and position types. If you have job descriptions, recruitment strategies, or other materials you have used to develop position descriptions that you can share with colleagues, please submit these resources to our library by October 13. We will share the submissions a few weeks afterwards. For more knowledge sharing, join NASFAA Communities (powered by Slack) to connect more with aid professionals across the country.
NASFAA's award-winning Diversity Leadership Program (DLP) aims to advance the careers of individuals from marginalized and underrepresented groups in the association and create a strong and diverse pipeline for association leadership. Now in its sixth year, the DLP is seeking six new participants to receive a robust portfolio of benefits, mentorship, and guidance to aid in their development as financial aid association leaders at the state, regional, and national level. Please refer to the DLP webpage for more information about program benefits, the applicant selection process, and eligibility criteria. Applications are due October 16, 2023.
