NASFAA is pleased to share a draft of its response to the Department of Education's (ED) request for comments on its proposed changes to the Master Promissory Forms as well as the Joint Consolidation Loan Separation Application. The department is proposing these changes to align the forms with changes made in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA). These comments address new language the department proposed adding regarding program quality, as well as areas where this new, important information on the changes to the loan repayment programs could be improved. NASFAA hopes our members will use these comments to inform their own comments, which are due to ED on June 8, 2026.
In higher education, we often talk about communication problems as if they were logistical — a matter of timing, technology, or templates. But what if the problem in higher education isn’t that we don’t communicate enough, but that we’ve forgotten how to talk in ways that actually lead to change? In "Communicate for Change: Revitalizing Conversations for Higher Education," authors Lori Carrell and Robert Zemsky show that communication is far more than a process; it’s the practice of belonging. In the following book review, Megan Comstock, student success navigator and financial aid liaison at Walla Walla Community College – Clarkston Campus, shares her opinions of its contents. What follows are her takeaways, thoughts, and reflections.

NASFAA’s AskRegs service fields thousands of questions from aid administrators each year, and with the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), those questions are evolving quickly. In this webinar, now available on demand, we’ll walk through the top OBBBA-related questions submitted by your peers, highlighting key themes, common areas of confusion, and practical takeaways. Due to the volume and complexity of questions related to OBBBA this webinar has been expanded from 90 minutes to a 120-minute extended edition.
