Silvia Marquez serves as the executive director of the financial aid and scholarships office at the University of California, San Diego. Marquez has nearly 30 years of student service experience in higher education, including director roles in both financial aid and admissions. Prior to joining UCSD, she served as the associate director of the financial aid and scholarships office at UC Berkeley and as the implementation manager for the Undergraduate Diversity Project, as well as the Hispanic-Serving Institution Initiative for the campus. Marquez also served as the interim assistant vice chancellor and director of undergraduate admissions at UC Berkeley. She was the director of financial aid at California College of the Arts, a small liberal arts college in San Francisco. Marquez grew up in the Central Valley of California and is a first-generation college graduate who received a bachelor’s degree in social welfare from UC Berkeley, an MPA from California State University, East Bay, and a doctorate degree in educational leadership from UC Davis. Her professional mission is dedicated to promoting equity, inclusion, and social justice in higher education.
