Silvia Marquez serves as the executive director of the financial aid and scholarships office at the University of California, San Diego. Silvia has over 20 years of student service experience in higher education, including director roles in both financial aid and admissions. Prior to joining UC San Diego, Silvia served as the associate director of the financial aid and scholarships office at UC Berkeley and as the implementation manager for the Hispanic-Serving Institution Initiative for the campus. Silvia also served as the interim assistant vice chancellor and director of undergraduate admissions at UC Berkeley. She was the director of financial aid at California College of the Arts, a small liberal arts college in San Francisco. Silvia grew up in the Central Valley of California and is a first-generation college graduate who received a bachelor’s degree in social welfare from UC Berkeley and an MPA from California State University, East Bay. She is currently working on a doctoral degree in educational leadership at UC Davis. Her professional mission is dedicated to promoting equity, inclusion, and social justice in higher education.
