Director of Operations, Blue Icon Advisors
Mandy Sponholtz is the director of operations for Blue Icon Advisors, NASFAA Consulting. In this role she helps determine schools' consulting needs, matching them with the right NASFAA solution. She also develops policies and procedures, performs research and marketing, recruits and evaluates consultants, and assists consultants with the delivery of high-quality services. Mandy began her financial aid career in 2002 at the University of Kansas while earning her master's degree in higher education administration. During that time, she also served as the secretary and treasurer of KASFAA (Kansas). From there, Mandy moved to the nonprofit sector conducting training sessions and providing policy guidance to assist schools nationwide on how to interpret the thousands of Title IV rules and regulations. She joined NASFAA in 2015 where she has worked on federal policy initiatives and consulting services. Mandy telecommutes from her home in Lawrence, Kansas, where she lives with her husband Scott (who is a financial aid director) and their two daughters, Morgan and Ashley. In her spare time, Mandy enjoys running, reading, and cooking (but not cleaning up the mess).
