Reports are now indicating that President Joe Biden will be making a decision on student loan debt cancellation through executive authority “later this summer.” While the White House had been previewing its consideration of the move in recent weeks, it is now being reported by The Wall Street Journal that the decision will likely be tied to an announcement concerning the impending expiration of the current pause on loan payments and interest accrual.

Nalia, who will be working on NASFAA's policy & federal relations team, comes to us as a recent graduate of The George Washington University (GW), where she earned a bachelor's degree in political science. Nalia brings experience in policy and advocacy through her previous roles as both an intern on Capitol Hill and a student leader on the GW campus. At NASFAA, Nalia will help advance the association's policy priorities through analyzing higher education legislation, supporting ongoing government relations efforts at the federal and state levels, and enhancing the advocacy capacity of NASFAA members. We are thrilled to have Nalia join the NASFAA staff!
