NEWS FROM NASFAA

Just within this year, multiple institutions across the country have announced programs that would provide free tuition to Indigenous students. Some experts say it’s part of a growing trend.

As Americans struggle with the high cost of living amid record inflation, we'd like to hear how inflation has affected your institution's cost of attendance (COA). Please use the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Price Index for the 12-month period prior to the month that you created your COA. Take our quick poll by Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 5:00 p.m. ET to let us know. If you'd like to take more polls, head to our Poll the Pros page.

NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

According to a recent NASFAA survey, nearly 80% of respondents indicated concern about their financial aid offices’ ability to remain “administratively capable” in the future to adhere to Title IV program requirements. In order to address this concerning trend, NASFAA is launching the Advancing the Profession Task Force and is looking for member volunteers. The task force will collaborate to create a toolkit of resources for financial aid administrators to include communication recommendations for campus decision-makers, and professional development pathways. Volunteers will also recommend how to incorporate these resources into existing NASFAA products, services, and training opportunities. Read the full task force charter and, if interested, apply to volunteer by Tuesday, Sept. 6.
