NEWS FROM NASFAA

Thousands of borrowers have received bills from servicers with incorrect payment amounts after applying to the Saving on a Valuable Education (SAVE) repayment plan, the Biden administration's new income-driven repayment plan, multiple reports found.

NASFAA is happy to share results of its latest Professional Judgment (PJ) survey from September 2023. While past years’ surveys have focused on the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s survey focuses more generally on PJ volume and year-to-year comparisons. We also added a number of questions on institutions’ reactions to a recent Office of Inspector General report about PJ use at a NASFAA member institution.

Many under-resourced schools do not have the capacity or resources to use NASFAA’s SAI Modeling Tool, which helps predict changes in financial need and Federal Pell Grant eligibility as a result of FAFSA simplification. NASFAA, through its consulting firm Blue Icon Advisors, will assist up to 50 under-resourced schools in utilizing the tool at a significantly reduced price. This work is generously sponsored by a grant from Strada Education Foundation. Read more for next steps.
