NEWS FROM NASFAA

A draft continuing resolution (CR) released in the House of Representatives yesterday that would fund the federal government through March 22 and forestall a government shutdown would also rescind the Department of Education’s latest update to the Student Aid Index (SAI) formula, which was just announced in an electronic announcement on Tuesday.

In the book titled "From Equity Talk to Equity Walk: Expanding Practitioner Knowledge for Racial Justice in Higher Education," authors Tia Brown McNair, Estela Mara Bensimon, and Lindsey Malcom-Piqueux provide real-world steps that reinforce primary elements for examining equity in student achievement, while challenging educators to specifically focus on racial equity as a critical lens for institutional and systemic change. In the following book review, Angela Cockrell, fund coordinator for financial aid at Sam Houston State University, shares her opinions of its content. What follows are her takeaways, thoughts, and reflections.
