After over a month of the government being shut down, the Senate on Monday night passed a government funding bill that would fund the Department of Education (ED) and other agencies through January 30, 2026. 

NASFAA is pleased to share its comments submitted to the Department of Education (ED) in response to its comment request on proposed revisions to the Federal Student Aid (FSA) Feedback System. NASFAA had issue with the renaming of the "Submit a Complaint" button to "Submit Feedback" because the available options continue to address grievances, creating confusion for borrowers. However, the simplification of language and the refinement of menu options, which make the feedback process clearer and more intuitive, were a positive change.

Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, the NASFAA Verification: 2026-27 (Extended Edition) webinar, previously scheduled for November 12, has been rescheduled to Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. ET. We are awaiting publication of the relevant Federal Register notice to ensure we provide the most accurate and up-to-date information on Verification changes for the 2026-27 award year. If you had previously registered, there is no need to re-register; your original webinar link will remain the same. Please update your calendars accordingly with the new date and time.
