NEWS FROM NASFAA

Sens. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) introduced the State-Based Education Loan Awareness Act last week, a bill that would clarify how state-based education loan programs are treated under federal financial aid rules by excluding them from the definition of a “preferred lender arrangement” (PLA).

Federal Student Aid (FSA) on Friday began posting recordings from its in-person training conference, which was held earlier this month in Washington, D.C. The recordings are available on FSA’s Youtube channel and the FSA training website, which also includes powerpoint attachments from each session. Read NASFAA’s coverage of the FSA training conference, and listen to our “Off The Cuff” episode recapping the conference.

For March’s state & regional association updates, we have the opportunity to hear from TASFAA (Tennessee), ISFAA (Indiana), and WASFAA (the Western Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators) about their upcoming annual conferences. We also get to hear from OASFAA (Oregon) about its recently held annual conference, and EASFAA’s (the Eastern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators) latest updates involving its Regional Council.
