NEWS FROM NASFAA

The Trump administration on Friday unveiled its budget proposal for fiscal year (FY) 2027, once again calling for the elimination of the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) program and drastic cuts to the Federal Work-Study (FWS) program, while also seeking increased funding for the federal Pell Grant program.

NASFAA is pleased to share its draft comments on the 2027-28 FAFSA. In this first round of comments, NASFAA expressed support for many of the proposed changes while also offering recommendations for further improvement and reiterating areas of concern raised in prior years’ comments. NASFAA hopes our members will use these comments to inform their own comments, which are due to ED on April 14, 2026.
