FSA Implements Series of System Updates During Weekend

On Sunday, April 26, Federal Student Aid (FSA) implemented a series of updates to its systems, including new fraud prevention measures in the FAFSA form, along with changes made under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) to the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) System, and Institutional Student Information Records (ISIRs). Specific updates to the FAFSA can be found in the FAFSA Product Section of FAFSA Central. NASFAA is monitoring this situation and will notify members via Today’s News of any updates.

Most people don’t struggle with leadership because they lack ability — they struggle because they keep trying to lead using approaches that worked earlier in their careers. “The Rising Leader Handbook: Turning High Achievers Into Effective Leaders” confronts this uncomfortable truth head-on, showing why the very habits that make someone a top performer can undermine them the moment they step into leadership. Megan Chaffee, director of financial aid and registration technology, Governors State University, shares her opinions of its contents. What follows are her takeaways, thoughts, and reflections.

NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

According to guidance NASFAA has received from the U.S. Department of Education (ED), you follow the rules for Enrollment Reporting when deciding whether the student loses eligibility for the limited exception (legacy or grandfathered borrowing) during periods of nonenrollment. View the full answer to this question to learn more.

In its commitment to the graduate and professional community, NASFAA is providing this webinar, now available on demand, as a forum for graduate and professional financial aid administrators to discuss current issues of concern for their students and peers. NASFAA will provide an update on topics specific to the graduate and professional aid community, and close with a question-and-answer session.
