NEWS FROM NASFAA

NASFAA unveiled its new Strategic Long-Range Plan (SLRP) for 2026-2031 today, which was approved by the Board of Directors on April 3, 2026. “This plan reflects not only where we are as an association, but also where we must go to support a sustainable, future-ready profession,” NASFAA President Melanie Storey and NASFAA’s National Chairs write in an open letter to the membership. “The sustainability of the profession depends on how clearly we communicate its value to institutional leaders, policymakers, and the public, and on ensuring that the full scope of financial aid professionals' role in expanding opportunity and informing institutional decision-making is understood.” Learn more about the new strategic plan and its key themes.

A group of Democratic lawmakers introduced a bicameral resolution to rescind the Department of Education’s (ED) recent final rule governing student loan provisions enacted by the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA).
