NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

NASFAA is thrilled to have  Lt. Colonel Olga Custodio as the opening session speaker at NASFAA 2023 in San Diego, California. The first Latina to complete the U.S. Air Force Undergraduate Pilot Training and graduate in the top 5% of her class (of 48) with a fighter qualification to fly the T-38 as an instructor pilot, Olga points to three principles that have helped her become successful in a profession dominated by men: overcoming self-doubt, staying open to possibilities, and seeing herself as an equal. From breaking barriers and overcoming challenges as a woman in a male-dominated profession, Olga has gained essential life insights and perspectives that she shares with everyone, especially women working to achieve their dreams. Join your colleagues for what is sure to be an exciting opening to the 2023 NASFAA National Conference. Registration is now open.

Scenario: The school awards and sends HEERF funds to the student, so they’re included in the Quarterly Budget and Expenditure Report (QBER) for the quarter in which the HEERF funds were delivered to the student (or in the annual report for the year in which the funds were delivered). The student never cashes the check after the report is submitted. Since the check was never cashed and becomes a stale-dated check, we re-awarded the funds to another student during the subsequent quarter (or year). In some cases the school submits its quarterly reports ahead of the submission deadline and they deliver the uncashed check funds to another student before the deadline.
