NEWS FROM NASFAA

An annual report from Sallie Mae® and Ipsos has highlighted the latest trends in college affordability for undergraduate students and their parents, and found that costs have risen, while FAFSA submission rates have stabilized following previous years of decline.

NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

NASFAA Monographs were created to assist financial aid administrators in fulfilling their professional responsibilities. NASFAA Training and Regulatory Assistance staff have recently updated the NASFAA Monographs on Cost of Attendance, Satisfactory Academic Progress, and Professional Judgment in Need Analysis to reflect the most current regulation and updated guidance related to the FAFSA Simplification Act. The Monographs include regulatory guidance, practical examples and scenarios, and best practices for ensuring schools remain in compliance with Title IV regulation.

Many under-resourced schools do not have the capacity or resources to use NASFAA’s SAI Modeling Tool, which helps predict changes in financial need and Federal Pell Grant eligibility as a result of FAFSA simplification. In order to support those institutions NASFAA, through its consulting firm Blue Icon Advisors, will assist up to 50 under-resourced schools in utilizing the tool at a significantly reduced price. This work is generously sponsored by a grant from Strada Education Foundation. If you are interested in participating in this SAI Modeling Tool opportunity you can learn more about how to take the next steps.

Join NASFAA on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at 2 p.m. ET for a webinar on FAFSA simplification. The webinar will explore the upcoming changes to the FAFSA, including direct data sharing with the IRS and a streamlined Federal Methodology. Attendees will also learn more about the latest updates on implementation as we approach the launch of the new FAFSA in December. Secure your seat today.
