The Department of Education (ED) on Tuesday hosted its second day of negotiated rulemaking for issues related to program integrity and institutional quality, this time focusing on state authorization and distance education.

In this monthly round-up in Today's News, we would like to highlight what’s going on in your state and regional associations. This month, we have the opportunity to hear from our colleagues from Texas, Illinois, Puerto Rico, and the Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (SASFAA).

NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

The 2023-24 P&P Builder template will be updated with additional guidance as well as the complete 2023-24 FSA Handbook, by January 26, 2024. As a reminder, with the introduction of a new template, all previous templates are archived. The process of rolling over previous versions of your manual to the new template is quick and easy. Be sure to check out the instructions. Updates can continue once the manual is rolled over.

The newly redesigned 2024-25 FAFSA changes the way students apply for Title IV assistance, and in many cases, institutional and state aid. Join Lissa Powell, NASFAA training content and presentation specialist, on Wednesday, January 24, at 2 p.m. ET, as she walks through the changes to the application process.
