NEWS FROM NASFAA

On Wednesday NASFAA submitted comments to the Department of Education (ED) in response to its proposed regulations for changes related to the Pell Grant in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA). NASFAA’s comments ask for clarification in areas of the proposal that remain ambiguous and highlight the need for prompt, clear guidance and systems updates so financial aid administrators can ensure that students receive accurate financial aid offers and have the clarity needed to counsel students and families with confidence.

Federal Student Aid (FSA) recently announced the dates for two new live Q&A webinars focused on new regulations under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA). The first webinar, which takes place this Friday, April 10, from 1-2 p.m. ET, will focus on the schedule of reductions that institutions will be required to use when reducing annual loan limits for students who are not enrolled full-time. FSA noted that registration is not needed to watch these webinars, however, participation will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. FSA can accommodate up to 5,000 attendees in each live session. If you are unable to attend, FSA will provide a recording and transcript of the webinar the week following the live session. Instructions on how to attend and access the webinars are available in FSA’s announcement.
