During their July 10, 2026, Virtual Office Hours, the U.S. Department of Education (ED) stated that the Enrollment Status Effective Date for Direct Loans in the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) System is the date the student most recently enrolled in the program of study (academic program). If the student is continuously enrolled, it is the first day of the student's enrollment in the program.
