Education Secretary Linda McMahon on Monday called on university presidents and governing boards to publicly support the Trump administration’s policies to reform higher education by the end of the year, including efforts to provide affordable degrees to students.

NASFAA President and CEO Melanie Storey recently joined the Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities (AICCU) to discuss the most pressing issues in federal financial aid policy on its "Insights with AICCU" podcast, including the Pell Grant shortfall, the elimination of Grad PLUS loans, new loan limits under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), and much more. Federal Student Aid (FSA) has announced two new August webinars focused on loan limit regulations under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), along with two virtual office hour sessions. The first webinar, on Wednesday, August 12, at 11 a.m. ET, will focus on the implementation of new loan limits and the interim exception for continuing students. The second webinar, on Wednesday, August 26, at 11 a.m. ET, will focus on reducing annual loan limits for less than full-time students. Registration is not required to attend these webinars, and participation is on a first-come, first-served basis. Additionally, FSA will continue its office hour sessions on Thursday, August 6 at 3 p.m. ET, and Thursday, August 20 at 3 p.m. ET. Registration is required for these office hour sessions. FSA will post recordings and transcripts of these webinars and virtual office hour sessions on the FSA Training Center approximately one week after each event.

Each year, NASFAA presents awards to deserving members of the financial aid profession and higher education community. NASFAA is joining the Association for Institutional Research (AIR) and the National Student Clearinghouse for a free webinar on Wednesday, August 5, from 2-3:15 p.m. ET, designed to help institutions prepare for the October 1 reporting deadline. Presenters will review the current financial value transparency and gainful employment (FVT/GE) reporting cycle, the option to early-implement STATS, and the mechanics of reporting through the Clearinghouse. Registration is closed, however a recording of the event will be posted to the Program Accountability Reporting webpage.
