NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

You use the student's remaining eligibility under the aggregate (or lifetime, if applicable) limit. The U.S. Department of Education (ED) has stated that the Schedule of Reductions (SOR) formula is applied to the student's initial maximum loan eligibility, which is the student's loan eligibility after all other Title IV criteria are considered. Therefore, the student's initial maximum loan eligibility may be less than the statutory maximum loan limits in 34 CFR 685.203. View the full answer to this question to learn more.

NASFAA's Rapid Response Network (RRN) provides timely feedback on student aid issues to NASFAA staff, which is then used in NASFAA's policy and advocacy work with Congress and the Department of Education. Communication is done through a listserv, and RRN members are asked to provide feedback relevant to their own institution or experiences. If interested, please apply to volunteer no later than 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday, August 21, 2026. This volunteer opportunity is only open to individuals who are employed at NASFAA member institutions.
