Yes. When applying the Schedule of Reductions (SOR) to Direct Loans for less-than-full-time enrollment over an academic year under 34 CFR 685.203(m)(1), a school can choose to apply the equal disbursement or proportional distribution method on a case-by-case basis. Under 685.303(d)(5), when the SOR does not apply, the school must disburse loan proceeds in substantially equal installments over the loan period, and no installment may exceed one-half of the loan.
