NEWS FROM NASFAA

Now that the first academic year since the implementation of new loan limits on graduate and professional degrees is well underway, some institutions have adjusted to these constraints by lowering tuition costs, but getting a clearer picture of what students are paying for higher education, as a result of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA), will require more data.

The American Federation of Teachers (AFT) on Friday filed a class action lawsuit against the Department of Education (ED), alleging that ED is illegally withholding or delaying Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) buyback determinations, failing to award borrowers credit for time worked in public service, and illegally clawing back previously credited time.
