Return of Title IV Funds - April 2024 (Sold Out)
Starts: April 22, 2024

This five-week interactive online course provides an overview of the return of Title IV funds (R2T4) regulations. Course participants will learn what happens to Title IV funds when a student withdraws before completing the period of enrollment, withdrawal from programs offered in modules, and how to apply the R2T4 formula in order to calculate the amount the school must return to the Title IV programs, or the amounts the student could receive as post-withdrawal disbursement.

Academic Calendars
Starts: April 30, 2024

This four-week collaborative online course will focus on the building blocks of Title IV program eligibility. Concepts such as academic year, payment periods, and program structure will be defined and illustrated as emerging academic program structures test the traditional basis of determining program eligibility and packaging students with Title IV aid. In addition to covering the structures of standard terms, nonstandard terms, and programs without terms, this course will cover how modules, summer terms, intersessions, and clinicals impact the packaging and disbursements of Title IV aid.

Starts: July 9, 2024

This four-week interactive online course will focus on the fundamentals of financial aid including applying, financial aid concepts, categories and types of financial aid, the Title IV aid programs, other federal sources of student assistance, and comparing financial aid offers.

Starts: September 3, 2024

Need Analysis/Pell - September 2024
Starts: September 4, 2024

This six-week interactive online course will review the changes in the federal methodology from the expected family contribution (EFC) to the student aid index (SAI), the calculation of the SAI, and the Federal Pell Grant calculation, including minimum and maximum Federal Pell Grant amounts. This course is the perfect learning tool for financial aid professionals to understand the calculations behind the new SAI and how to calculate the Federal Pell Grant using HHS poverty guidelines.

This four-week interactive online course will focus on a comprehensive review of the concept of professional judgment. Instruction provided will examine the guiding principles for the use of professional judgment and explore its impact on student eligibility and financial assistance.

Application Processing - October 2024
Starts: October 22, 2024

This four-week interactive online course provides an overview of the new 2024-2025 FAFSA and the entire application process which includes correctly answering dependency questions, supplying tax and income information, parental information, and how an applicant correctly completes and submits a FAFSA. Course participants will also learn the process the FAFSA Processing System (FPS, formerly CPS) performs when it receives a FAFSA and understand the difference between corrections, updates, and adjustments to applicant data.

Packaging and Aid Notification
Starts: November 18, 2024

This four-week interactive online course will provide you with the regulatory requirements and underlying principles for packaging Title IV aid, knowledge of the basic packaging models used to package financial aid, and guidelines for packaging financial aid funds.

Starts: January 6, 2025

This four-week interactive online course will focus on the 2024-2025 processing year, and concentrates on the principles of verification, information subject to verification, acceptable documentation, processing data corrections, how to verify applicant files in accordance with Title IV verification requirements, and options for institutional verification.

This four-week interactive online course will focus on the fundamentals of financial aid including applying, financial aid concepts, categories and types of financial aid, the Title IV aid programs, other federal sources of student assistance, and comparing financial aid offers. This course is the perfect learning tool for new financial aid professionals, and individuals who assist students through the financial aid cycle such as admissions or enrollment representatives, and high school counselors.

Starts: February 10, 2025

This eight-week interactive online course will review the types of higher education loan programs. It will cover the Direct Loan application and origination process, eligibility criteria, annual and aggregate limits, loan periods, loan repayment plans, deferments, forbearance, discharges and counseling requirements. It will also cover private education loans, institutional loans, and loan disclosures and practices.

Starts: March 18, 2025

This NASFAA U course will provide you with an overall understanding of the complex world of cash management in Title IV program administration. The course begins with the fundamentals of how academic program structure sets the cycle for disbursing and drawing down Title IV funds. Other topics include obtaining, maintaining and accounting for funds, disbursements and Title IV credit balance requirements, authorization and notifications, and a review of Tier 1 and Tier 2 regulations.

This four-week interactive course provides participants with an overview of consumer information. In order to award and disburse Title IV financial aid, the U.S. Department of Education requires certain information to be disclosed to students, their parents, prospective students, and employees.

All learning materials, including access to the live class sessions, are limited to the individual registered for the course. Distribution or sharing of materials to individuals not registered for the course is strictly prohibited. Individuals found in violation of this policy would be in violation of NASFAA’s Code of Conduct and Statement of Ethical Principles and enforcement procedures.
