NEWS FROM NASFAA

November was a busy month on the 2020 presidential campaign trail, as several candidates entered and exited the race. While former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick tossed their hats in the ring for the Democratic nomination, former Montana Gov. Steve Bullock and former Rep. Joe Sestak dropped out. Also in November, Pete Buttigieg, mayor of South Bend, Indiana, released his full higher education plan, which included free tuition for 80% of families, a $1,000 increase to the maximum Pell Grant award, and improvements to student loan forgiveness. He also proposed that the federal government complete most of students’ FAFSAs, and notify freshman in high school of their eligibility for Pell Grants. Catch up on all the latest and review updates for other candidates with NASFAA's 2020 Presidential Cheat Sheet.

NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

2020-21 NASFAA Dues Announced

NASFAA's Financial Affairs Committee (FAC) and Board of Directors are committed to ensuring NASFAA is operating at peak performance while simultaneously keeping dues as low as possible. Given normal cost-of-business expense increases, FAC and the Board have announced that the base amount for institutional membership in 2020-21 will increase by $5, from $835 to $840, and the FTE multiplier will increase by .004, from .091 to .095. The price of the Value and Value Plus dues packages and Policies & Procedures (P&P) Builder package will remain the same, and the price of the Webinar Package will increase by $50 for the year, from $449 to $499. Membership dues are announced early to give schools sufficient time to plan accordingly.
