NEWS FROM NASFAA

Please join us in welcoming our newest NASFAA staff member, Natalie Wong, our community engagement manager. Most recently, Natalie was the senior assistant director of financial aid at Salve Regina University in Rhode Island. She's also been heavily involved in RIASFAA and EASFAA, and served as the conference co-chair for EASFAA. Natalie is a first-generation college graduate and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island before earning her master’s degree in strategic planning and innovation from Salve Regina University in Rhode Island. She currently lives in Rhode Island with her fiancé, Kyle, who is also from Rhode Island, and their dog, Archie.

NASFAA is pleased to share a draft of its response to the Department of Education's (ED) request for comments on its proposed changes to the Income-Driven Repayment (IDR) Plan Request form. The department recently proposed revisions to the IDR request form to reflect the repayment plan changes enacted under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA). In the comments, NASFAA expressed support for many of the proposed updates, while also offering suggestions to improve the form's clarity and requesting additional guidance on how family size and the number of dependents are determined for calculating monthly payment amounts under the available IDR plans. NASFAA hopes our members will use these comments to inform their own comments, which are due to ED on June 22, 2026.
