NEWS FROM NASFAA

With July 1 just a week away, two federal lawsuits are pressing courts to act before a wave of student aid rule changes from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) take effect. The lawsuits challenge the Reimagining and Improving Student Education (RISE) negotiated rulemaking (neg reg) committee’s final rule's definition of “professional degree” and its consequences for some workers in the healthcare industry.

NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Updates to the NASFAA Policies & Procedures (P&P) Builder for the 2026-27 award year are live! The 2025-26 P&P Builder template will remain available until it is archived on Friday, July 31, 2026. To move forward with updates to policies and procedures for the 2026-27 award year as soon as the template becomes available, within the tool, select “Start a New Manual.” This step is very important; there will not be a forced push to the new template until archival takes place at the end of July. Starting a new manual prompts rollover to the 2026-27 template. There is no need to worry; rolling over previous versions of your manual to the new template is quick and easy.

At this year's NASFAA Virtual Summit, attendees have the opportunity to join Blue Icon for a Let's Talk session on July 16. This session, presented by Blue Icon Advisors, will give you the opportunity to engage with peers and discuss the NASFAA 2026 Virtual Summit. Review the full NASFAA 2026 Virtual Summit schedule and register your institution today!
