NEWS FROM NASFAA

Prior to the start of fiscal year (FY) 2027, the Trump administration put forward a “rescission package” partially targeting some funds for the Department of Education (ED), a move that could complicate the appropriations process when Congress returns from its recess after the midterm elections.

NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Celebrated each year on the third Wednesday in October, Financial Aid Day (FAD) is a special day set aside to recognize the contributions of financial aid professionals across the United States who help students make their college-going dreams a reality. On FAD, colleagues are encouraged to do something special—such as an office party, a potluck, or a toast—to celebrate financial aid professionals' contributions to the profession. There are endless ways to celebrate each other, but the most important thing is to have fun and intentionally recognize everyone’s efforts. What is your office doing to celebrate the occasion? Send us your stories and pictures, or use our new FAD Canva Template to create custom social media graphics. Be sure to share them on social media and tag NASFAA!

What changes are in store for the 2027-28 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)? Are there new questions, additional or changed instructions? Were any questions removed? Are there any changes to the process for contributors? Join NASFAA's Lissa Powell and Tiffany Gibbs with the Training and Regulatory Assistance team, on October 14, to discuss the changes and modifications in place for the 2027-28 application cycle. Reserve your seat today!
