President Donald Trump signed a new memorandum on Thursday, directing the Department of Education (ED) to require institutions of higher education that receive federal aid to disclose “necessary” admissions data to verify that a school is not participating in discriminatory practices.
While the U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) struck down the practice of race-conscious admissions policies in 2023 the White House claims that a “lack of available admissions data” raises concerns as to whether a student’s race is used in admissions or scholarship practices.
According to the directive, institutions would be required to “submit the data necessary to verify that their admissions do not involve unlawful discrimination.”
The directive mentions that more admissions data is expected to be disclosed through the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), but further details have not been provided.
Stay tuned to Today’s News as we monitor developments concerning this new directive.

Remember, Trump is just cleaning up the messes left behind from the previous administrations,

Remember, the rationale given for their attempts to dissolve the US Department of Education is that the federal government should have no role in education.
The same federal government is trying to dictate admissions policy at every college in the country.
Can't have it both ways.
