Now that President-elect Donald Trump is beginning to formulate his cabinet, questions are being raised concerning how his campaign platform will translate to federal policymaking. For higher education, a common question is whether the administration will fulfill campaign rhetoric related to “abolishing” the Department of Education (ED) and what that could mean for student aid policy.

The Department of Education (ED) on Friday, via an electronic announcement, gave an update on the status of how those without a Social Security number (SSN) can create an account on StudentAid.gov.

There are different types of teacher certification programs and coursework, and different Title IV rules for the different types of programs. NASFAA is looking for a student to fill a 12-week paid internship with its Policy and Federal Relations staff. The intern will help develop advocacy materials; attend and report on hearings, events, and meetings; analyze and summarize legislation and regulations; and much more. If you know graduate or undergraduate students who may be interested, please encourage them to apply. This internship is supported by the Dallas Martin Endowment for Public Policy and Student Aid. Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday, Feb. 7, 2024, for priority consideration.
