NEWS FROM NASFAA

Hello NASFAA Community. I’m thrilled to be working as the 2026 Dallas Martin Endowment Policy Intern this summer. I’m based in Philadelphia as I complete my master’s program in Education Policy, though I originally come from small-town Ohio and remain quite connected to my midwestern identity. I’m passionate about college access and success, including the ways in which financial literacy and Federal Student Aid policy shape students’ ability to enroll in and complete higher education. I am excited to continue exploring policy at a time when so much is changing in higher education and student aid, and I look forward to learning from this community’s expertise and experience.

NASFAA recently updated its resource, Federal Student Aid Changes from the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA). During the update process following the release of the final rules addressing the loan and Pell Grant provisions in OBBBA, one revision was inadvertently omitted. The resource incorrectly stated that Graduate PLUS Loans were excluded from the lifetime loan limit. However, the final rule revised this provision to include Graduate PLUS Loans in the lifetime limit. The chart has now been updated to accurately reflect the final rule. As a reminder, whenever revisions are made to any NASFAA OBBBA resources, the date of the update will be noted on the document.

NASFAA UPDATES AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Attending the NASFAA National Conference 2026 for the first time? Get a practical roadmap, today at 2 p.m. ET, for what to expect, how to prepare, and how to turn conference connections into lasting professional relationships.

At this year's NASFAA Virtual Summit, attendees have the opportunity to learn about the ways in which  R2T4 processes can break down when student scenarios fall outside standard patterns. This session focuses on regulatory edge cases, including modules within standard terms and determining when a student is — or is not — considered a withdrawal. Participants will examine key distinctions, such as “never attended” versus “began attendance and stopped,” as well as cases where a student did not begin all scheduled coursework. Review the full NASFAA 2026 Virtual Summit schedule and register your institution today!

Our toolkit provides practical strategies, ready-to-use resources, and actionable messaging to help financial aid professionals raise awareness about the value, complexity, and strategic importance of financial aid administration. The first section, Strategy and Framework for Raising Awareness, dives into how to build an effective strategy to raise awareness of the financial aid office and includes a sample campaign.
