NASFAA Summary & Analysis: This bill would allow students pursuing postgraduate education to once again receive Federal Direct Subsidized Loans. Prior to the enactment of the Budget Control Act of 2011, graduate students were eligible to receive these types of loans and this bill would restore that eligibility.

NASFAA Summary & Analysis: This bill would include graduate student works in the definition of an employee under the National Labor Relations Act, granting them all the rights and responsibility that the Act provides.

NASFAA Summary & Analysis: The Fellowships to Prepare the Next Generation of Teachers Act would create a grant program for graduate students who are preparing to become elementary or secondary school science, technology, engineers, math, special education or ESL teachers. Each recipient of the grant would be required to teach for 1 year at an institute of higher education that has a teacher preparation program for each year they received the fellowship grant. If the recipient fails to complete their teaching requirements, any grant amount received will be converted to a Federal Unsubsidized loan.
