A group of nine senators last week questioned MOHELA’s operations involving borrowers after reports indicated that the student loan servicer sent delinquency notices to borrowers who were not delinquent on their loans.

NASFAA's award-winning Developing Leaders Pipeline (DLP) provides professional development opportunities for NASFAA's next generation of leaders. Are you interested in advocating for student aid issues in your state? Volunteer to join NASFAA's State Advocacy Network! The network will work to ensure that states and regions are aware of emerging trends in state student aid policy, request additional support from NASFAA to assist with advocacy around timely state legislation, and notify NASFAA of new issues in state student aid policy. The network, which meets virtually on a bimonthly basis, will also provide a forum for state and regional leaders who follow state financial aid legislation and coordinate state-level advocacy efforts to share best practices related to communication with state lawmakers, student engagement, and advocacy campaigns. If interested, please apply to volunteer no later than 5:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
