On Monday, Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) was selected by her colleagues to helm the gavel on the House Education and Labor Committee. Prior to the midterm election Foxx, who has previously served as chair of the Education and the Workforce Committee — the name Republicans have typically given to the committee — highlighted that the GOP higher education agenda would focus on student loan reform and new requirements for financial aid offers.
While the chair position is a term-limited seat, per Republican rules, Foxx was able to obtain a waiver from her caucus.
Learn more about Foxx’s most recent higher education-centric bill, the Responsible Education Assistance Through Loan (REAL) Reforms Act.
