Tina brings to this position extensive leadership and strategic experience in all facets of financial aid services, as well as a passion for supporting the access and success of diverse and talented students.
  • March 7, 2022 - Kristin Silver, previously the senior student accounts analyst at DeVry University, is now the assistant director of financial aid compliance at Elmhurst University.
  • March 1, 2022 - Carey Jennings, formerly the financial aid counselor at Idaho State University, is now an assistant director at Viterbo University.
  • March 1, 2022 - Lisa Blazer, formerly the associate vice president undergraduate recruitment and outreach at Texas A&M University, is now the vice president for enrollment management at Webster University. Lisa has worked in financial aid for over 30 years and previously served as the 2016-17 NASFAA National Chair.
  • February 16, 2022 - Jacquelyn Lesueur, formerly the assistant director of financial aid at Mississippi University for Women, is now the associate director of financial aid at Mississippi State University. Jacquelyn was a 2019-20 NASFAA Diversity Leadership Program participant.

  • July 30, 2021 - Abril Hunt, formerly the director of financial aid at Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) — who facilitated completion of PNCA's merger with Willamette University — relocated to Hawaii and is now the financial aid specialist, assisting with the financial aid centralization project at University of Hawai'i Community Colleges. 
  • July 19, 2021 - Glendi Gaddis, FAAC®, formerly the student services manager at Portland State University, is now the interim associate dean of financial aid at Clark College.
  • July 7, 2021 - Dr. Tom Stuart, FAAC®, formerly the director of financial aid at Grantham University, is now the assistant vice president of student financial services and director of financial Aid at William Jewell College.

Retirements

  • June 30, 2022 - Marguerite Wilder, formerly the assistant director of financial aid at Morris College, retired in June after 43 years of working in financial aid.
  • June 30, 2022 - Keith Reeves, associate director and systems business analyst at Clemson University has retired after 36 years of working in financial aid. Keith was the past president of SCASFAA (2003-04), past president of SASFAA (2009-10), 2020 NASFAA Regional Leadership Award winner, 2019 SASFAA Distinguished Service Award winner, and 2018-19 Fearless Nine Service to SCASFAA Award winner.
  • June 30, 2022 - Patricia Reilly, associate dean of financial aid at Tufts University, will retire after 42 years of working in financial aid.
  • June 30, 2022 - Rodney Oto, director of student financial services at Carleton College, will retire after 44 years of working in financial aid. Rodney previously worked at University of Minnesota, Morris, Colorado College, Austin College, and Coe College.
  • June 30, 2022 - Theresa Lowder, director of student financial aid services at Berea College, will retire after 45 years of working in financial aid. She notes that she worked four years as a student worker in the labor and financial aid office before graduating from Berea College, was on the NASFAA Conference Mentor Task Force for three years, participated in the Advocacy Pipeline in March 2018, and completed 14 credentials.
  • June 30, 2022 - Georgene Diaz, financial aid advisor at Erwin Technical College, will retire at the end of June after 40 years in the field of education as a teacher, administrator, community school administrator, and financial aid administrator. Georgene also worked at Hillsborough Technical Colleges, Brewster Technical College, and Aparicio-Levy Technical College.
  • June 24, 2022 - Vicki Kucera, area director of financial aid services at Central Community College, Nebraska, will retire in June after 41 years in the industry. She notes "I will miss colleagues dreadfully, but am excited about the next adventures this life brings!"
  • June 22, 2022 - David Martin, financial aid director at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, will retire after 36 years in financial aid.
  • June 10, 2022 - Luanne Canestro, most recently the financial aid reconciliation specialist at San Mateo County Community College District, has retired after 35 years of working in financial aid. She notes: "Although I've retired from my full-time job, I am still involved with our state association, CASFAA, with outreach, training and conference program planning. I love the people and work we do!"
  • May 31, 2022 - Chrisana Black, financial aid compliance officer at University of North Texas, retired after 15 years of working in financial aid.
  • April 1, 2022 - Odette Franceskino, director of financial aid at Quinnipiac School of Law, retired. Over her 27 years in financial aid, she has been an active member of our professional community serving as both a mentor and friend at Quinnipiac, throughout the state of Connecticut as well as regionally and nationally. Her outstanding service has been recognized through numerous awards, including the 2018 NASFAA Regional Leadership Award (EASFAA region), 2016 EASFAA Distinguished Service Award, and the CAPFAA P. Jerome Cunningham Distinguished Service Award. Odette has served as a leader within the Quinnipiac University financial aid team for 26 years working with students in the undergraduate, graduate, and law school. During her time at Quinnipiac, she was also recognized as a recipient of the Center for Excellence in Service to Students Award. Her colleagues describe her as a role model with "exacting knowledge of financial aid regulations" and "stellar student service". They describe her dedication to the financial aid community and that she has been an inspiration to many financial aid professionals. She has been a tireless advocate for students above all else. On behalf of the entire financial aid community, her team wishes Odette the best as she begins to enjoy her retirement. 
  • February 28, 2022 - Terry Finney, director of financial aid and scholarships at Arkansas State University, retired after 42 years of experience in higher education; 36 of those years have been in student financial aid. During his career, he has additionally held leadership positions at Lyon College, Lambuth College, University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, and Missouri Higher Education Loan Authority (MOHELA). Terry has been active in state, regional, and national financial aid organizations, numerous committees, and executive councils.  He also served as president of the Arkansas Association of financial Aid Administrators (AASFAA) and he was presented a service award from AASFAA in 2004. His staff notes: "He leaves A-State to enjoy a well-deserved retirement. A-State has been fortunate to have him here since December 2008. His superior work ethic, in-depth knowledge of the financial aid world, and solid leadership of A-State’s financial aid and scholarships department, as well as the student affairs / enrollment management division, are respected and appreciated across campus. Terry, you will be greatly missed!"
  • February 16, 2022 - Karen Burnett, lead advisor at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC), retired after serving her institution for more than 29 years. She has overseen SAP, Verification, Direct Loans, and Pell Reconciliation. Not only has she been an advisor to thousands of students, but she was also a part of TTUHSC expanding to six schools and five campuses across Texas. Her financial aid family notes that she's been an invaluable team member, will be greatly missed, and wishes her well in her next chapter. 
  • January 31, 2022 - Debra Hintz, director of scholarships and financial aid at University of Wyoming, retired at the end of January. Her staff notes that "she is a very dedicated and giving individual who made a lifetime career in financial aid."
  • January 31, 2022 - Donna Seaboy, financial aid director at Sitting Bull College, retired at the end of January. She notes "Sitting Bull College is a tribally controlled community college located on the Standing Rock Sioux Indian Reservation in North and South Dakota. It has been a pleasure serving the Native American population all these years and helping them achieve their goal of obtaining a college education. And, a rewarding career serving parents, their children, and eventually their grandchildren over a span of 40 years."
  • January 4, 2022 - Val Meyers, FAAC®, associate director at Michigan State University, retired in January after 36 years in financial aid. She notes "I began work in the office of financial aid at Michigan State University in 1985 as a file clerk, and end as an associate director. In between, I oversaw processing, software systems, and customer service areas (at different times) before finally landing in the position of compliance officer. I feel that financial aid as a profession is both a calling and a service. I am from a family of seven and was the only one to finish an undergraduate degree, let alone a graduate degree. The path of my life has gone far afield from that of my siblings, and I am grateful every day for the financial aid and employee tuition benefits that I was able to access to get those degrees under my belt. It proved to me, over and over again, that education makes such a profound difference in the lives of our students. I feel this was a good use of the last 36 years of my life."
  • December 31, 2021 - Kathleen Gentile, senior associate dean of financial aid at Amherst College, retired in December after 43 years of working in financial aid.
  • October 31, 2021 - Kathryn Blaisdell, director of student financial services at Mount Holyoke College, retired in October after 23 years of working in financial aid.
  • September 3, 2021 - Wendell Schick, director of financial aid at the University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH), retired in September. Wendell has spent 38 years of his life working in the financial aid arena, 18 of which spent at UNOH. Since 1985, he has been involved with the Ohio Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (OASFAA), during which time he served in multiple committee positions and was elected president for the 2003-2004 year. Wendell also served as the Ohio State association president of the Midwest Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (MASFAA) and has volunteered his time and been appointed to various positions within the following organizations: Student Access and Success Coordinating Council of Ohio, Student Portal Web Development Committee of Ohio, Ohio Board of Regents Advisory Group, Great Lakes Higher Education Advisory Group, Ohio Student Loan Commission Advisory Council, Regional Chair of the Ohio Student Aid Commission, Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges Advisory Group, National Advisory Board of the Sallie Mae Loan Program, National Advisory Group of the Law Access Loan Program, the College Board, and the Lima Access Group. Prior to his time at UNOH, he worked in financial aid at Ohio Northern University for 20 years. Wendell has made an impact on the financial aid operations of UNOH that will last for many years to come, and his staff notes that they "could never thank him enough for his service to the University." Following his retirement, he is looking forward to spending more time with his wife Diane and extended family.
  • September 1, 2021 - Caesar Storlazzi, university director of financial aid at Yale University retired after 43 years of working in financial aid.
  • August 31, 2021 - Joan Zanders, director of financial aid at Northern Virginia Community College, retired in August after 34 years in higher education.
  • August 2, 2021 - Deb Coleman, system analyst supervisor at University of Michigan - Dearborn, retired in August after 36 years of working in financial aid.
  • July 29, 2021 - Lisanne Masterson, director of financial aid at Blue Ridge Community College in North Carolina retired in July after 38 years in financial aid. Lisanne notes: "It has been my pleasure to work at two wonderful institutions, but the colleagues in my state, in my region and across the country that I have met along my FA journey have truly enriched my life as well as contributed to my lasting in this career for so long. Thanks to all ... I will miss the camaraderie and lively discussions!"
